Copley and Fairlawn are two communities in Northeast Ohio located just outside of Akron. Small town charm, superb shopping, and laid-back living makes them exceptional places to visit and call home.

Real Estate
Copley Township is primarily residential, featuring neighborhoods with diverse housing options — from traditional to craftsman, and everything in between. Copley real estate includes a number of rural properties with expansive lots. Fairlawn becomes mostly residential off the West Market corridor, where you will find homes primarily built in the 1970s and 1980s. There is a small percentage of homes in Fairlawn constructed in the last decade, leaving just a handful of open parcels.

Lifestyle and Attractions

This popular shopping district stretches into the adjacent Copley and Bath Townships. The collection of luxury hotels in Fairlawn are often chosen to host presidential motorcades or celebrities making appearances in Akron.
There are a number of golf courses in the area, including Fairlawn Country Club, Rosemont Country Club, and J.E. Good Park Golf Course. History
Copley was previously called Greenfield, then Copley Center. The first settlement in the area was made around the year 1819. The community was named Copley Center for its location near the geographical center of the township. A post office called Copley Centre was established in 1835, but closed soon after in 1957. The community’s name was changed to Copley in 1841.
Fairlawn was originally founded as a hamlet in 1891 when the Northern Ohio Railway was constructed. By the year 1908, it had a mill, a general store, a blacksmith, and other small businesses. It was officially incorporated as Fairlawn Village in 1958 and became a city when its population reached 6,200 in 1970.
