Start at the driveway, look for maintenance issues, landscaping (roof, gutters, front door, screens chipped paint, outside lighting issues, overgrown bushes, tall grass, cluttered walkway, garage, beside the garage, cracks in driveway
Inside the home look around is it tidy, odor free, bright, are the curtains clean and fresh and recently washed? clean the windows and take out the screens. Does your layout of furniture make sense?
Focus on the interior and make note of any areas of chipped or cracked paint or repairs. check the flooring is it outdated, ripped, or need replaced. what about the cleanliness? inspect windows and blinds. cabinets, drawers, knobs, and fixtures to all work smooth and easy. tighten anything loose.
Will the buyer be able to see them living in your home? do you have too many personal items in the home(photographs, kid’s trophies, toys, artwork, gym clothes, work items, declutter all the things to show your last few years in the home. Pack it up for your next home.
lastly, I want to say go thru all those kitchen cabinets, basement cubbies and garage areas. go thru wipe down, sweep everything and give the home a beautiful shine. You want to make it look as beautiful as you can. YOU only make one first impression.
