Buyer Information: Location
The Location you desire to live in is one of the most important decisions you will make. It will impact, lifestyle, safety, amenities, convenience and resale. All of these things should be considered when shopping for a home.
1.Make a list of all the activities you like to do church, heath club, movies, even stores you go too frequently. See how far from travel they are from each of the target neighborhoods you are considering.
2.Check the school district. Even if you do not have children this will impact selling your home in the future. The department of education provides online information and details about scores, percentages of students who attend college, special enrichment programs. These things are very important as children are our future.
3.Find out if a neighborhood is safe. Ask local police department about the crime statistics. Sometime you can even find these out online. Consider not only the crimes, but the type of crime, burglaries, armed robberies and if increasing or decreasing. Even ask how often they patrol this area. It’s often good to drive the area your considering in the am, afternoon, and the pm to get a sense of the location especially if you’re not familiar with the area.
4.Determine if the neighborhood is economically stable. Check local city development office to see if the property values seem to be stable, rising or are they declining. What percentage of homes are apartments, Apartments don’t always diminish value but they do mean more transient population. DO you see vacant business or a lot of homes for sale?
5. See if you will make money. Ask a local Realtor or call to get a price appreciation or CMA done on the neighborhood. Get a sense of the investment you’re going to look into before you sign on the dotted line. Be sure to check to see if a new road is going in, or school or highway close by.
6.See for yourself... most important of all. Once you narrow down neighborhoods. You will get a sense of home. You will know, you will feel that this is where you want to plant your roots. Enjoy your next chapter buying your home!
